If someone has invited you
You need a join code. Whoever set the competition up will have one to share.
- Create an account with your email address, or sign in if you already have one.
- Choose Join competition and enter the code.
- Open the competition and go to Predict.
- Enter a score for every fixture in the active gameweek. Predictions save as you go.
Each fixture locks at its own kick-off time, so a Friday night game closes before the Saturday ones. You can change a prediction as many times as you like until then.
How points work
- 2 points for the correct result — home win, away win or draw.
- 5 points for the exact score. That's the 2 for the result plus a 3-point bonus.
- +15 bonus if you get every result in the gameweek right.
- +30 bonus if you get every scoreline in the gameweek exactly right.
Both full-house bonuses need a prediction on every fixture in the gameweek. Miss one and the bonus is off, however well the rest went. If a fixture is voided by the admin, it's taken out of the calculation and doesn't cost you the bonus.
Admins can change any of these values, so check your competition's own rules if they look different.
Triple Points
You get two Triple Points chips a season. Playing one multiplies everything you score in that gameweek by three, including bonuses.
- The first chip must be used by 31 December. The second is for the rest of the season.
- You have to predict every fixture in the gameweek for the chip to count.
- Once a gameweek starts, the chip is locked in. Choose carefully.
- Admins can block Triple Points on particular gameweeks.
Setting up a competition
Whoever creates a competition becomes its admin, and gets the Admin tab for that competition.
1. Create it
Pick a format — League, Knockout, or Group + Knockout — and give it a name. Knockout and Group + Knockout competitions borrow their points rules from one of your league competitions, so create the league first.
2. Invite people
Share the join code from the Participants tab. Anyone with the code can join; anyone without it can't see the competition exists.
3. Build the gameweeks
Add a gameweek, then add fixtures to it with home team, away team and kick-off time. Set the gameweek to Active when you want predictions to open. More than one gameweek can be active at a time, which is useful when a midweek round overlaps a weekend one.
4. Enter results
Put the final scores in against each fixture. Scoring recalculates immediately — points, bonuses, the table, and any cup ties that depended on that gameweek. If you enter a score wrongly, correct it and everything recalculates again.
5. Close the month
In a league, closing a month locks that month's standings and declares the monthly winner. Do it once the last result of the month is in.
Reminders
The app can send a push notification when a new gameweek opens, 24 hours before the first kick-off, and one hour before. The last two only arrive if you still have predictions outstanding.
Turn them on or off in Settings. If you've allowed notifications in the app but nothing arrives, check that notifications are also enabled for ALOTO Prediction Pro in your iPhone's own Settings app.
Free and Pro
Playing is free. If you were invited to a competition, you never pay anything.
Pro is bought by an admin and covers everything they run. Free admins get one cup competition and one final-table prediction; Pro removes both limits. Purchases are handled by Apple and restore automatically if you reinstall the app or set up a new device — use Restore purchases in Settings if it doesn't happen on its own.
Common questions
I've lost my join code
Ask the competition admin — it's on their Participants tab and doesn't change.
Can I see what everyone else predicted?
Only after kick-off. Until a fixture starts, every player's prediction is hidden from everyone else, admins included.
I missed the deadline. Can the admin let me in late?
No. Once a fixture kicks off it's locked for everybody, and that's deliberate — it's the only thing keeping the competition honest. A missed fixture scores zero and takes the full-house bonuses off the table for that gameweek.
My points look wrong
Check the result the admin entered against the real one first — nine times in ten that's it. If the result is right and the points still don't add up, email us with the competition name and the gameweek and we'll look.
A match was postponed
The admin can void the fixture. It's then removed from scoring for everyone and won't block the full-house bonuses.
Can I leave a competition?
Ask the admin to remove you from the Participants tab. Your past results stay in the competition's history.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, then Delete account. That removes your personal data within 30 days. If you'd rather we did it, email us from the address on your account. There's more detail in the privacy policy.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. The web app works in any mobile browser in the meantime, and Android is on the list.
